The Trench Plan

Description

The southern end of the Rocky Mountain Trench (RMT) has more wildlife diversity than any place in the nation. (see year 4 program 5) In the atmosphere of good will fostered by WestLand's public conference on land use in the RMT held in 1986 a new planning initiative is now underway in the trench. The consensus seems to be holding at this point and a wide list of stakeholders is working toward a more cooperative form of land management in the area. As occurred in other places, many are crediting the idea of a neutral "meeting place" like the WestLand conference as being the event that started to de-polarize special interest forces.
