What better place to run such trials than Car. Creek? With 20 years data on post-logging recovery, parts of Car. Cr. had become overgrown with brush. Some were sprayed with an herbicide and then insect and fish production were compared with areas unsprayed. (See program 8 1989 and program 2 - 1984) There was some fish mortality and fish left sprayed areas but returned hours later. Fisheries scientists deemed the treatment acceptable from a fish habitat perspective but pointed out that this is one site, one test and there is much more to learn.
