B.C's Largest Epidemic
Description
The Pine Beetle Epidemic is the largest single environmental impact this province has faced since European settlement. In some areas of the province as much as 100% of the Mature Pine forests will be dead within the next decade. The environmental and economic impacts are overwhelming, especially to those living in rural areas of the province. This program looks at what can be done to minimize the impacts on the forest sector as well as tourism and wildlife. As this epidemic spreads to Alberta we will also profile what is being done in that province with provincial governments and Canada Parks.
