B.C. Burning
Description
The summer of 2003 presented British Columbia with one of the most devastating fire seasons in history. The Okanagan Mountain Park Fire caused severe damage to the residents on Okanagan Lake. This program looks at why last summer's Wildland/Urban Interface fires were so fierce, what can be done to prevent the same scenario from happening again, and whether the people of BC can expect climatic changes to bring extreme fire danger in the summers to come. The protection department of the Ministry of Forests and Range is in charge of forest fires. The combined efforts of the ministry are profiled as well as some fire history background.
