Report on the Lakes

Description

Kootenay and Arrow Lakes are large reservoirs now controlled by dams. In this program we look at the impacts to lakes by dams built on the Columbia river system and track the decline in lake fisheries since the dam–building days of the seventies. To make matters worse, we also planted fresh water shrimp back as far as the late forties. This combination has caused serious consequences for the future of the fishery and overall biological balance. We look at the prospects for restoring these devastated fisheries.
